How To: Search Engine Optimization – SEO

What exactly is Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of optimizing your websites content with the purpose of achieving higher rank within the search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo with an overall goal of providing higher quality, more relevant content to users who are searching.

The biggest and most obvious problem with webmasters around the world is that they focus their search engine optimization efforts simply to out-rank others, and to maintain a strong position within the search engines.

What is so wrong about this you ask?

Well, nothing. However during the process of obtaining a higher rank in the search engines, a number of webmasters will go to extreme heights to keyword spam their websites and content to a point where it is solely written for search engine spiders/crawlers and not for users who are actually readying the information.

The main purpose of search engine optimization is to provide relevant, high quality information and content to users searching for it. How do you do that you ask?

How To SEO: Search Engine Optimization

1. Select up to 5 Primary Keywords
2. Select up to 10 Secondary Keywords
3. Optimize your Images/Videos with ALT Tags
4. Title Tags, Meta Description and Meta Keywords
5. Interlink your Content (on-site)
6. Build Links to your Content (off-site)
7. Share your content with links on Social Media Sites
8. Add your new content to the Sitemap
9. Ensure all your content is relevant to the Topic
10. Check keyword density and ensure you are not writing your content just for the “spiders”.

By following the above mentioned 10 steps for each of your pages you will be closer to higher rankings and better ROI.

There is not a true How to Guide for Search Engine Optimization but each webmaster should figure out the basics before proceeding to more advanced methods of search optimization.
